Chapter 16 – Shar-Tia
My mind was going a mile a minute and I had to come up with a complete plan for Tone and me once our experience at the loft was over. Since Tony and Tyson took the kids out, I decided to get on one of the laptops and search for massage therapist jobs. Just staying in the loft had opened my eyes to a whole new way of living and once we left, I knew I wouldn’t be able to get a place plush like this but I wasn’t going to live like I had before.
Joan was sitting in the same room with me working on her personal laptop so I assumed she was working on her new book. She was so fucking uppity and I had no clue what Tony saw in her boogie ass. As long as she continued to stay out of my way, I would do the same. I would never admit this to anyone but I had read her first two books and that damn chick could write her ass off. Personally, she had a boogie bitchy attitude, but I thought her talent was off the meter.
Joan couldn’t stand me and it really baffled me. She was sleeping with my man so how could she have hate for me? Being nosy, I looked over my laptop at Joan on hers. She was so engrossed in her writing that I became interested.
I thought about asking her what her new book was about but my fuse was short and if that bitch said something slick, I was going to knock her teeth out. I took a deep breath and decided to keep my mouth closed.
My job search was becoming frustrating because I didn’t have a resume but my qualifications were superb. I graduated at the top of my class my clients had nothing but great things to say about my skills. Giving massages was so therapeutic for me. I enjoyed helping people feel better and I was determined that after this damn reality show, I was getting a good job and turning my life around. I was taking sex off of my services menu.
Joan tried to get up but somehow lost her balance causing her laptop to crash to the floor. The cameraman was hot on the spot, dead in her grill and her face looked frustrated as hell but more so embarrassed.
“Will you get the hell out of my face with that fucking camera?” She yelled trying to get herself together.
She didn’t seem like the type to curse and the times we had run-ins in the past, she had never uttered a curse word that I could remember so I figured being taped was wearing thin on her.
“Are you ok Joan?” I asked walking towards her to help.
“Yes, I’m fine.” She stood to her feet. “I’m just trying to finish this book, I haven’t been feeling well and I’m sick of all these damn cameras in my face.”
This was the first time in three years that Joan finally seemed human to me.
